Tater Day (4-3)

On a calm Saturday night, we got this hair brained idea that we would go to Tater Day.
So me, Justin, Jax, Bridgette and John loaded up and headed to Lauren's apartment in Benton, picked her up, and headed to Tater Day.
Our main mission was to get a funnel cake.
We accomplished that mission.
And that's about all.
Tater Day is not all that it's cracked up to be.
At one point, Jaxon looked up at me and said, "Momma, I scared."
I have to admit, I was a little scared too. Here's us girls. Lauren looks like she really doesn't want to stand close to Bridgette.
And the guys. The picture quality isn't that great because I just had my little camera with me.
Bridge and John with their funnel cake and lemonade jug (that didn't have lemonade in it.) They ordered a pepsi and got a lemonade jug. Go figure!
We made Lauren crawl in and out of the back hatch...
Even though it was a pointless night and we accomplished nothing, we had a lot of fun and made a lot of memories. Tater day is atleast good for that!

Fishing with Daddy...

Several weeks ago, Jax got to go fishing for a little while with his daddy. He had so so so much fun...
for about three minutes.
And that's as long as his two year old attention span lasted.
No fish=No fun.

Everythings's Better...

...when you do it together.
Even breathing treatments.

Sometimes...

my kid is so smart that it amazes me.
Seriously. I know he's mine and I'm biased and all that good stuff.
But some of the things that he says floors me.
Like this afternoon when I was putting clothes on him.
I pulled a shirt off of the hanger and he said,
"Gabin got me this (Gavin got me this)."
I had told him that the ONE other time that he wore that shirt, like atleast a month ago.
Yea, he remembered.
Or like tonight when we were eating at Snappy Tomato.
Jesse Anderson and Aaron Cooper were there.
For those of you who do not know who Anderson and Cooper are, they both started for Graves County's boys basketball team this year.
Jaxon was looking around, he spotted the boys (in street clothes, not uniforms),
and says, "Go Eagles."
I'm being for real.
Sometimes I'm amazed at how smart he is and how amazing his memory is at two.

Off to Dreamland...

Thursday night, Jax wanted to watch Barney in the living room. Since he's been running a fever and sick we've been letting him watch what he wants before bedtime. However, he wanted to sit in his stroller and watch Barney.
I came back to check on him about 15 minutes later and found him like this... Precious little tired man.
Don't worry. I picked him up and moved him to a more comfortable spot on the couch.
He took a ride in his stroller, straight to dreamland.

Go Away (4-15)!

Go away yucky flu!

Grizzlies v. Rockets (4-6)

During my blogging hiatus- Justin and I went to an NBA game.
I had never been to one so I was pumped- and Justin was extremely excited! We had court side seats. I'm not going to lie, it was pretty awesome! When you have court side seats, there are waiters and waitresses that take your order and deliver your food and drinks to you. Plus you are so close to the players that you see on tv night after night... Like Chuck Hayes here... former Kentucky boy back in the Tubby days. Chuck plays for the Houston Rockets now and here he was warming up before the game.
And this referee guy. Justin and I thought it was hilarious because it seems like he is reffing every game that we watch on television. Apparently this guy really gets around... and the funny thing is, he looks like he's about 97 years old.
This is right before tip off.
Again...
OJ Mayo...
Chuck shooting free throws...
The funniest Chuck story of the night happened during half time. Justin and I both had to use the restroom so I asked the worker beside us where the nearest restrooms were. He pointed to the hallway which just so happens to contain the visitors locker room. So we get up and head to the restroom and when we get in the hallway, all of the Rockets players come out of the locker room to go back to the court. We almost got run over! But anyway, Justin is like 1 foot from Chuck Hayes and screams "Hey Chuck!" (Chuck didn't even look in Justin's direction, but it was hilarious.)

Final Score Rockets 113- Grizzlies 103
Final Score- A for real fun time for us!
Good idea Jus- I'll go back with you anytime!

Easter Sunday (4-4)

Just like every other weekend in our house, Easter weekend was a busy one!

Jaxon was absolutely wore out...

He woke up (well actually he was awakened by his parents) on Easter morning to his gifts from the Easter Bunny. Notice that he does not have on pajamas. He fell asleep in his clothes the night before, and his Mommy did not want to risk waking him up by changing his clothes. Also notice that there was no candy in this boys Easter basket this year. Don't worry, he got plenty of candy from other places. But the Easter Bunny, Mommy and Daddy opted to skip on the candy for this year because of the cavity issues that little man has been having lately. So he got books and movies, and bubbles instead. They'll last longer anyway. But anyway, I LOVE EASTER.

I love Easter for so many reasons.

The first reason, of course, being because Jesus paid my debt by dying for me and raising again!

HE AROSE!

HE'S ALIVE!
HE'S THE REASON WE CELEBRATE THIS MAGNIFICENT HOLIDAY!

Sure, The Easter Bunny is fun, but sorry mister rabbit, it's just not about you.

And it's not about me. And friend, it's not about you.

It's about HIM!

It's all about Him.

I also love Easter because I get to dress up these two cute guys (just like we do every Sunday) and head to the Lord's House. The only thing that's different as far as clothing apparel goes on, is that on Easter, Justin doesn't mind matching. So once a year (maybe twice, on Christmas) we match! And I love matching! I always dreamed of having children and dressing them up for Easter- and it's so amazing that so many of my dreams have become reality.

Justin may be my husband and Jaxon may be my son, so I may be a tad bit biassed,
but I don't know that you can find two better looking guys! And their purple just makes them that much cuter!
After church, we went to Nana and Paps' for lunch and after lunch we had an Easter egg hunt. Jax and Mya didn't need any prompting. They knew just what to do!

His shorts were huge. They're a 2t but his waist is little so he's having a hard time keeping his shorts up. Mommy's on the hunt for a belt for him (not having much luck though. if you have any suggestions, feel free to share)!
Even baby Ava found some eggs, with her Daddy's help of course.
And Kyler found some too. He had a whole scavenger hunt for just him. But I didn't get any pics of that.
And Me, Justin, Jonathan and Angie had an easter egg hunt as well. But I didn't get any pics of that either. But trust me, it was a lot of fun!
Busy hunting!
Eventually Jaxon got tired of finding eggs though. And that's when he just started throwing them into the air. Because that was much more fun!

"My Hands Messy." (4-4)

Easter Sunday night after church, a group of us were going to eat at Majestic. Justin and Josh decided that they needed to ride together, so Kimberly rode with me and Jax in our car. We got to talking and not paying much attention to Jax, when we heard, "Mommy my hands messy." We turn around and he had gotten into his Easter candy and his hands and mouth were covered in chocolate. It was really funny!
Later at Majestic, Jaxon also walked up to Larry Monroe, patted his belly and asked him if there was a baby in there... Everyone laughed really hard, and if you know Larry Monroe, then I'm sure you're laughing too.
This kid is funny, I'm telling ya...

Behind... again!

That's what I am, friends.
And since Justin took this picture of my "behind" last week as I was chasing Jaxon around the yard trying to get him inside, I thought I'd share it with you.
You know, because I was sure you'd want to see it.
And because that's what I am.
Behind. Right now, the little man and I have the swine flu. Yep, that's right. I thought that left the neck of the wood some time ago, but apparently not. And I'm not going to lie. I've never felt worse in my entire life. All of the talk about how bad it is is definitely true. It's horrible. And having a two year old with it is the pits. Especially when you don't really feel like taking care of him. Justin started it. He started getting sick Sunday afternoon and went to the doctor on Monday. The doctor assumed that he had a sinus infection and just sent him home with a prescription to take care of that, without running any tests. Tuesday morning Jaxon and I woke up with a fever. Jax ran a high fever through the night Tuesday night, and this morning, I took him to the doctor. That's where he tested positive for the yucky pig flu. They didn't actually test me but said that I was showing all of the symptoms... So, yuck. That's where we are.
But the swine flu really isn't why I haven't been blogging much lately. I guess I've just been lazy. It's been so pretty outside and so we've been trying to spend atleast some time each day enjoying the sunshine. I don't know why I allow myself to get behind, because I really miss it when I do. I need to clean my house so bad... that was one of those random stream of consciousness things, but I digress.
So I guess when I get behind on my blog- try not to hate me. I try my hardest to spend as much time as possible with my sweet two year old and this really handsome man that lives in my house.
And sometimes the blog gets put on the back burner.
But I'm getting old and crazy, and this blog is how I will somehow remember the everyday memories that my family experiences.
So I'm not calling it quits.
I'm just a little (or actually a BIG) behind ;)...

Forty Years of Love...

Forty years ago, Bonnie and Donald began their marriage...
Saturday night we continued the celebration of their love as our family gathered together for a surprise party for the special couple.
Bonnie and Donald are Justin's great aunt and great uncle, but they have always been more like grandparents to him. Bonnie is Justin's Granny Mary's sister. Bonnie and Donald are so special to our entire family. They are the core that holds everything together.
And boy were they surprised Saturday night when they walked into a gym full of people there to celebrate their love... I love this picture, even if Jaxon is crying.
This is baby Ellie Kate. She is Justin's cousin Amanda's baby. She is precious. Her and Jax both have crazy hair-dos!
Here we are with the special couple...
This side of eternity, Bonnie and Donald will never know how much we love them and how much they mean to our family.

Happy 4oth anniversary Bonnie and Donald!

Egg Coloring...

After the Easter egg hunt on Saturday morning, we came home and colored some eggs.
Jax had so much fun! He wasn't real patient waiting for the eggs to dye though...
I let him paint on the eggs. He loved that and made a super huge mess!
Action shot...
There were stickers to stick on the eggs but he thought it would be much more fun to stick them on his hands, feet, arms and legs instead!
I'm sure he was right...
I love experiencing the big things and the small things with my little boy...
Every day with him is precious...

Church Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday morning was our annual Easter egg hunt at church. I was a little worried about how Jax would do because I hadn't practiced with him at all, but he did awesome! He found 37 eggs all by himself, and he looked soooo stinkin' cute doing it! Miss Rylee looked pretty precious herself. This kid does not meet a stranger... she's hilarious!
Instead of "hot potato" we played "pass the egg." The kids loved it!
Here's the little egg hunter...
Jax and his buddy Mike. Micah found the most eggs in his age group and found the golden egg. He wracked up on prizes!
Checking out all of his candy...
I sure do love this little man and his new spikey hair!

...and I pretty much love his daddy, too.
