October 24, 2005
Well, it all started on Friday night, October 21st. Justin made reservations for us at Patti’s. All day long, everyone kept telling me that I was going to get a ring that night. The idea did cross my mind several times but I didn’t necessarily believe that this would be the night because everything seemed pretty predictable to me, and we all know that Justin is not predictable. Our dinner reservations were at 7:30 so he got to my house at about 6:30 to pick me up. When we got in the car, he asked me if I noticed anything special about what he was wearing. Of course I had noticed. He was wearing the same shirt that he wore on our first date… the red Tommy Hilfiger polo- one of my favorites. He pointed out that he had not worn that shirt since that night, May 13th. I had noticed that too. We drove to Patti’s and they sat us down at our table. We ordered our food and talked until they brought it out to us. Justin asked me, “Are you sure?”
“Sure about what?” I asked.
He said, “Sure you want to marry me?”
Of course I said, “Yes.”
“But I’m rough with you, and I tickle you a lot, and I’m mean sometimes…”
“I know,” I said, “and I’m sure.”
We both ordered Don’s chicken, and after we were finished eating we walked around outside for a while. It was really cold, so we walked to the car and got Justin’s jacket for me. Several times, as we were walking hand in hand, Justin turned to me and asked, “Are you sure?”
Each time, I replied, “Yes, I am sure.”
We left Patti’s and headed back towards home. In the car he made it a point to ask me if I was sure a few more times. We got back to Mayfield and went through the McDonald’s drive-thru and got ice cream. We went back to the farm for a little bit and watched the movie “Radio.” We started getting tired so Justin decided to take me home…
October 21st had come and gone and everyone was wrong. I hadn’t got a ring…
