Digital Photography (10-3-09)...

I love digital photography.
I really do. Especially as I'm trying to make a small living doing it. When I take pictures, I can go through and delete the pictures where people's eyes are closed or their smile is fake.
I don't have to waste money printing pictures that I, or other people, would never want.
But with digital photography, we miss some of the surprises that used to come with film. I used to love going to get pictures developed, not remembering what would all be on that particular roll of film. It was such a surprise!
On the night before Justin's birthday, the three of us went to Paducah. We didn't take any pictures when we went out, so I decided that I would take some when we got home. So the self-photo session began. And instead of going through and deleting the pictures that were slightly imperfect, I left them on my camera...
Like this picture of my chubb face and half of my husbands. Or this one... I don't really know what my husband is looking at?
And I loved this one of Justin, but hated it of myself. But I didn't delete it.
This one was better.
Then we picked up our favorite little man. But he decided that it would be cool to close his eyes. But don't worry- I didn't delete it.
He opened his eyes, and here's our beautiful family.
Shoot! That flash is bright!
Digital photography is a lot like life. We try to delete the moments that are slightly imperfect and never develop the moments that we are not quite fond of. But we miss out on so much in life when we do that.
I am thankful for my life. Closed eyes, fake grins and all. And even though I may not choose to print every picture that I take because of slight imperfections, I will choose to be thankful for each moment that God allows me to spend with my family, and every picture He allows me to take while I'm here.
Digital photography is great. Life's better. Don't be so quick to hit that delete button...

Once again...something I SOOOOO needed to read!!! It's one of those weeks when I'm wishing I could just delete some things....like yelling at your MIL yesterday (I really didn't know I was doing it). I would love to go back and hit the delete button, but I guess we don't learn from it when we can do that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!!! I needed it badly today!!!
